Meet the team

Larry Pantirer

Partner

Larry Pantirer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in 1971. He graduated from New York Law School in 1975, and is a member of The New Jersey Bar Association. In 1985, he and his partners formed BNE Real Estate Group. Larry’s expertise in legal matters, land planning, and the approval process strongly influences the success of BNE Real Estate Group.

Howard Schwartz

Partner

Howard Schwartz attended Pratt Institute and Herbert Lehman College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. As a principal of BNE Real Estate Group, Howard oversees BNE’s construction team and supervises a staff of more than 75 field personnel comprised of sales managers, project managers, and construction support. Howard’s hands-on approach to managing the on-site operations of BNE Real Estate Group is a major asset to the company.

Alan Pines

Partner

Alan Pines graduated Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981, from Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy. Afterward, he joined his brothers-in-law at BNE Real Estate Group. Alan is responsible for the overall financial development of the company including the supervision of more than 100 BNE staff members in the company’s financial departments.

Jonathan Schwartz

Partner

Jonathan Schwartz is a third-generation principal of BNE Real Estate Group. Leading the company’s acquisition and asset management activities, he is primarily responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and executing new development opportunities, while also overseeing the daily management of the company and its existing portfolio of assets. Jonathan’s expertise in sourcing new deals, project planning, and the approval process makes him a valuable asset to BNE. He was recently pivotal in the planning, entitlement, and financing of over 800 luxury apartments currently under construction and coming soon to the New Jersey marketplace. In addition, he is actively pursuing approvals on multiple projects throughout the tri-state area. Jonathan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Muhlenberg College and currently lives in New Jersey.

David Pantirer

Partner

David Pantirer is a third-generation principal of BNE Real Estate Group. A graduate of Benjamin N. Cordoza School of Law, David serves as BNE’s in-house counsel, while also providing financial analysis and investment viability for new development opportunities. He coordinates development budgets, designs capital structures, and solicits equity and debt financing for new developments and capital improvement projects. He works with lenders, partners, and outside equity investors, managing the overall development process to ensure that BNE’s developments are successful for the company as well as our clients and partners.

Marc Pantirer

Partner

Marc Pantirer is a third-generation principal of BNE Real Estate Group. A graduate of Fordham University School of Law, Marc serves as BNE’s in-house co-counsel. He coordinates development budgets, designs capital structures, and solicits equity and debt financing for new developments, existing assets and capital improvement projects. He interfaces with lenders, partners, and outside equity investors, managing the overall development process to ensure that BNE’s developments are successful for the company as well as our clients and partners.

Prior to joining BNE, Marc received a Master of Science in Real Estate Development at Columbia University where he focused on financial analysis, investment viability and efficient design of development opportunities. Prior to Columbia University, Marc practiced corporate and real estate law at Seward & Kissel LLP, a Manhattan-based law firm. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and currently lives in New York City.

Rhonda Tayloe-Calinda

Chief Financial Officer

Having over 30 years tenure with the firm, Rhonda is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the finances, information systems, risk management and human resource functions for BNE Real Estate Group. Since joining BNE in 1986, she has judiciously restructured the company’s growing accounting department to meet the changing financial reporting, operational, and capital needs of the expanding organization and its ownership entities. Rhonda graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Centenary College and currently lives in New Jersey.

Seth Cohen

Executive Vice President, Head of Operations

Seth Cohen is an executive vice president and the head of operations for BNE Real Estate Group. Seth is primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company’s multifamily portfolio and directing all property management activities. Seth also plays a role in the development of new communities, providing financial, approval, and operations guidance in the underwriting, planning, and construction stages of new projects. Seth joined BNE Real Estate Group in 2004.

Seth graduated from Boston University with a major in Finance. He is currently a board member of Jewish Family Services of MetroWest. He is also NALP and CAM certified through the New Jersey Apartment Association, and a founding member of their Young Leaders Group.

Aytan Gabai

Executive Vice President, Head of Construction

As Executive Vice President - Head of Construction, Aytan is responsible for overseeing all construction operations for BNE’s esteemed portfolio of residential communities. From project conception, he manages planning processes and design development, budgets, site preparation, and the overall construction of each jobsite through completion. He works alongside a vast array of architects, consultants, engineers, subcontractors and trade partners, leveraging a multi-disciplinary approach to bring each new development to fruition. With over 20 years of experience in real estate development and construction, Aytan’s commitment to quality and design excellence helps to ensure that BNE’s project milestones, financial goals, and superior building standards are met. Aytan attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison and graduated from NYU Stern School of Business.

Tracy Peck

Executive Vice President, Head of Property Management

Tracy Peck is Executive Vice President, Head of Property Management for BNE Real Estate Group. Tracy has over 20 years of experience within the industry. Tracy is a key contributor to the success of the on-site operations team. His experience also includes pre-construction review and lease up to stabilization phases of new developments in the New Jersey urban and suburban markets. Tracy is also responsible for pre-construction design review, pre-and post-development market research, proforma budgets, rent schedules, on-site operations team assembly and management, collaborative marketing efforts, and an intermediary between the development and management teams.

Tracy has had the distinguished opportunity to work within the New Jersey, Boston, Virginia and New York markets. He was a past member of the Boston RHA Board of Directors for 6 years. Tracy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from SUNY College at Cortland and resides in West New York, NJ.

Chuck Thomas

Vice President of Land Development

Chuck Thomas is a licensed professional engineer who has over 30 years of land development and entitlement experience. Previously a private engineering consultant to BNE, he has joined the team to assist in due diligence, value engineer and coordinate projects with the consultants as the projects navigate the approval process. Chuck is involved in all levels of permitting from State, County and local agencies. In addition to the approval process, he assists with construction activities and performs inspection of the ongoing work. As BNE owns all its projects, Chuck works with the property management team for facility upgrades, repair and long-term maintenance. Chuck has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Tom Witherel

Vice President of Design and Architecture

Tom Witherel is Vice President of Design and Architecture for BNE Real Estate Group. He is responsible for bringing the design team consultants on board and overseeing the development of conceptual plans for future developments. Once a project is approved, Tom handles the scheduling and coordination of the design team as they produce the construction documents.

In addition to being a registered architect, he is a member of The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Drexel University and currently lives in New Jersey.

Peter Milman

Vice President of Construction

Peter Milman has over 20 years of experience in ground-up real estate development projects and rehabilitation. At BNE he is actively involved in pre-development, design, cost analysis, planning, budgeting, purchasing, and construction management. Peter joined BNE in 2019 and has overseen over $600 million in construction projects to date. Peter began his career as a financial analyst and equities trader however he entered his first real estate deal in 1999. In 2015, he fully transitioned into the real estate industry. He earned his B.A. in Finance and IT from the Stern School of Business, NYU.
